Actually this rule separates 29 from 27,5. in my opinion it's better to not separate these two whell-sizes because they are too similar. supposed a competitor uses a tire 27,5 fat tire the outside diameter is even greater than a normal 29 tire. so what do you think about the following categories:

- Limited: Ungeared unicycles up to 29 inches (no restrictions on cranks and pedas)

- Unlimited: Ungeared unicycles greater than 29 inches and geared unicycles (no restrictions on cranks and pedals)

Comment

I think it's a good idea to have 27.5 and 29 together because they are so similar.

However, on a course like in Spain, do we really need different categories at all? Maybe we should leave it to the organizers / event director to decide if or which categories make the most sense on a particular course.

Yes, in Spain it was really much better to not have two categories. I agree to leave it to the organizers to decide if making categories. But I think the rule should give a recommendation on how to separate if necessary. In my opinion 27 should never be separated from 29 because to similar.

so how could we write this:?

Separating categories is depending on the course. If course is non favoring any type of unicycle so no separated categories should be made. If the course is favoring big wheels and geared unicycles the recommended categories are:

- Limited: Ungeared unicycles up to 29 inches (no restrictions on cranks and pedas)

- Unlimited: Ungeared unicycles greater than 29 inches and geared unicycles (no restrictions on cranks and pedals)

What do you think?

I would have liked to race the 29 in the standard cyclocross rather than my 26, but I think it makes sense. A geared unicycle or 36" is a big gear jump from a 29, whereas a 26, 27.5 and 29 are similar.

A small addition to your wording though.  it should be "limited: ungeared unicycles up to and including 29" (BSD 622mm) wheels."

I would add the BSD rim measurement, simply for accuracy. It should prevent people disputing whether something is actually a 29".

Ok, so it could be like this:

Separating categories is depending on the course. If course is non favoring any type of unicycle so no separated categories should be made. If the course is favoring big wheels and geared unicycles the recommended categories are:

- Limited: Ungeared unicycles up to and including 29" (BSD 622mm) wheels. No restrictions on cranks and pedals.

- Unlimited: Ungeared unicycles greater than 29" and geared unicycles. No restrictions on cranks and pedals.

Comment

I like it, just a few minor corrections:

Separating categories depends on the course. If the course is not favoring any type of unicycle, no separate categories should be made. If the course is favoring big wheels and geared unicycles, the recommended categories are:

- Limited: Ungeared unicycles up to and including 29" (BSD 622mm) wheels. No restrictions on cranks and pedals.

- Unlimited: Ungeared unicycles greater than 29" and geared unicycles. No restrictions on cranks and pedals.

I'm not sure if we should include BSD because this is discussed in the Main committee right now:

But let's leave it like it is, the editors can always make sure it is consistent.

Ok. Shall I make the proposal?
